DAE Neuberger aircraft leasing vehicle

Dubai Aerospace Enterprise is making another serious move in the global aircraft leasing market. This time, the Dubai-based aviation services company has teamed up with Neuberger Specialty Finance to launch Mustang Aerospace, a new aircraft leasing co-investment vehicle targeting around $6 billion in assets over the medium term.

It is not a small side project. Mustang Aerospace is being positioned as a major leasing platform at a time when airlines are still dealing with aircraft delivery delays, tight fleet availability, and rising demand for newer, more efficient aircraft. For Dubai, it adds another layer to the emirate’s growing aviation finance story.

Mustang Aerospace Targets a Global Aircraft Leasing Portfolio

Mustang Aerospace will allow both DAE and funds managed by Neuberger Specialty Finance to acquire a diverse fleet of aircraft for lease to airlines around the world. The idea is straightforward: buy aircraft, lease them to carriers, and build a portfolio that can serve demand across multiple regions.

That sounds simple on paper. In reality, aircraft leasing has become one of the most important corners of global aviation finance. Airlines want flexibility. Investors want real assets with long-term income potential. Lessors sit right in the middle.

DAE already has the scale to play that role. The company manages a fleet of around 700 aircraft and serves more than 200 airline customers across 80 countries. Its fleet was valued at about $25 billion as of March 31, 2026.

Why DAE Is Expanding Its Asset Management Business

For DAE, Mustang Aerospace is more than another leasing vehicle. It supports the company’s wider push to grow its aircraft asset management platform.

Through its Aircraft Investor Services division, DAE already acts as servicer on 17 aircraft servicing and management agreements, including structured transactions. That experience matters because institutional investors may want aviation exposure, but they do not always want to manage aircraft themselves. They need a partner that understands airline customers, fleet placement, technical management, and market timing.

That is where DAE comes in.

Neuberger Specialty Finance brings another piece of the puzzle: capital and structuring expertise. The partnership gives Mustang Aerospace the ability to pursue aircraft investments at a much larger scale than a single balance-sheet deal.

Major Banks Back the Aircraft Leasing Vehicle

Mustang Aerospace has also secured committed warehouse financing from a group of major financial institutions. The banking group includes Goldman Sachs, Mizuho, BNP Paribas, MUFG, Société Générale, and Truist, according to reports on the launch.

That kind of backing is important. Aircraft are expensive assets, and leasing platforms need strong financing support if they want to move quickly when aircraft opportunities appear.

The aviation market is still dealing with supply constraints. New aircraft deliveries remain under pressure, while airlines continue to rebuild and expand networks. That creates a strong environment for lessors with available aircraft and access to capital.

Dubai’s Aviation Finance Role Keeps Getting Bigger

Dubai is already known globally for airlines, airports, logistics, and travel. But aviation finance is becoming a bigger part of the picture.

DAE’s latest deal with Neuberger shows how Dubai-based aviation companies are not just operating in the sector. They are helping finance and manage aircraft fleets used by airlines worldwide.

The timing is also interesting. In April 2026, DAE launched Equator with Blackstone Credit & Insurance, another global aircraft leasing platform targeting around $1.6 billion in annual deployments. Mustang Aerospace now adds a larger medium-term investment target, giving DAE another vehicle to expand its managed aircraft portfolio.

Aircraft Leasing Demand Remains Strong

Airlines are still hungry for aircraft. Some need replacements. Some need growth aircraft. Others want flexibility without committing to direct ownership.

Leasing answers part of that problem.

For investors, aircraft leasing also offers exposure to real assets tied to global travel demand. Of course, it is not without risk. Airline credit strength, interest rates, aircraft values, and geopolitical shifts all matter. But when managed properly, the sector continues to attract major institutional capital.

Mustang Aerospace sits inside that trend. It combines DAE’s aviation management experience with Neuberger’s capital platform, then adds bank financing from some of the largest names in global finance.

A Bigger Signal From Dubai’s Aviation Sector

The launch of Mustang Aerospace is another sign that Dubai’s aviation ecosystem is moving beyond passenger traffic and airport expansion alone. Aircraft leasing, asset management, and aviation-linked investment are becoming part of the wider growth story.

DAE and Neuberger are targeting approximately $6 billion in aircraft assets. That number is big enough to matter, especially in a market where aircraft availability remains tight and airlines are competing for capacity.

For Dubai, it strengthens the city’s position not only as a global aviation hub, but also as a serious center for aviation finance.
