Dubai is stepping up its artificial intelligence ambitions, with a major expansion of Dubai AI Campus expected to attract more technology companies. This move will create thousands of specialised jobs and strengthen the emirate’s position as a global destination for AI investment.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, has approved new strategic targets for Dubai AI Campus to attract more than 1,000 artificial intelligence companies and create over 5,000 highly skilled jobs by 2030.

The announcement was made during the third edition of the Dubai AI Festival, held at Dubai World Trade Centre in October 2026. It also included plans for a purpose-built AI facility within the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Zabeel District expansion.

The initiative reflects Dubai’s growing focus on turning artificial intelligence into a major driver of economic activity. This approach helps attract international technology businesses while supporting research, investment and commercial innovation.

Dubai AI Campus Exceeds Original Growth Targets Two Years Early

Dubai AI Campus has already moved beyond several of its original development targets, giving the emirate a stronger foundation for its next phase of expansion. Since its launch in May 2024, the campus has attracted more than 500 artificial intelligence companies. It has generated over AED 1 billion in collective private equity and venture capital investment. Moreover, the campus has supported the creation of more than 2,000 specialised technology jobs. These achievements were initially targeted for 2028. As a result, the campus reached important milestones two years ahead of schedule. The performance has encouraged Dubai’s leadership to set more ambitious goals for 2030. These new targets focus on expanding the number of AI businesses, attracting additional investment and creating employment opportunities in emerging technology sectors.

New 100,000-Square-Foot AI Facility Planned for DIFC Zabeel District

A major part of the expansion involves developing a new 100,000-square-foot facility within DIFC Zabeel District, designed specifically for artificial intelligence companies, researchers and technology developers. The planned building will offer advanced infrastructure to support AI research, product development, testing and commercialisation. Its proposed features include GPU-ready computing infrastructure, secure AI development environments, digital twin technology, modular laboratory spaces and AI-powered building management systems. The facility will also provide conference areas and collaborative workspaces. This will allow startups, established technology companies, investors and government organisations to work more closely together. Moreover, an AI Experience Centre is expected to showcase real-world applications developed by campus businesses and partners. This will give visitors a closer look at how artificial intelligence is being used across different industries.

DIFC Expands Its Position as a Regional Hub for Artificial Intelligence

The expansion strengthens the Dubai International Financial Centre’s growing role beyond traditional financial services, placing greater emphasis on technology, innovation and digital business development. DIFC has been building an ecosystem that connects financial institutions, technology companies, investors and entrepreneurs. Dubai AI Campus is becoming an important part of that strategy. His Excellency Essa Kazim, Governor of DIFC, highlighted the importance of combining investment capital, specialised talent and advanced infrastructure to accelerate artificial intelligence development. Meanwhile, His Excellency Arif Amiri, Chief Executive Officer of DIFC Authority, emphasised the transformative potential of AI across financial services, business operations and investment activities. The planned expansion is expected to strengthen DIFC’s ability to attract international technology companies seeking access to regional markets and investment opportunities.

Dubai AI Campus Expansion Opens New Opportunities for Free Zone Businesses

For entrepreneurs and international investors considering business establishment in Dubai, the expansion of Dubai AI Campus could create additional opportunities within the emirate’s technology sector. Artificial intelligence companies often require specialised infrastructure, access to funding, experienced technical professionals and connections with potential customers. The campus aims to bring these resources together in a business environment where startups and established companies can develop and commercialise their technologies. Businesses operating in machine learning, financial technology, automation, robotics and enterprise AI may find opportunities to collaborate with investors, government entities and other technology developers. However, companies considering a presence within DIFC will still need to review applicable licensing requirements, regulatory obligations and operating costs before making investment decisions.

Dubai AI Festival Showcases Global Investment and Technology Opportunities

The announcement coincided with the third edition of the Dubai AI Festival, held from October 26 to 27, 2026, under the theme Where Intelligence Meets Opportunity. Organised by Dubai AI Campus in collaboration with the Office of the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, the event brought together technology leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs and investors to discuss the commercial and economic potential of artificial intelligence. According to the organisers, the festival attracted more than 20,000 participants from over 100 countries. It also included more than 150 speakers, 500 investors and 200 exhibitors. During his visit, Sheikh Hamdan explored AI technologies presented by organisations including Amazon Web Services, Alibaba Cloud, ElevenLabs and Linkerbot. Discussions focused on AI governance, investment, infrastructure, business transformation and the growing influence of intelligent systems across industries.

Dubai Targets Long-Term Economic Growth Through Artificial Intelligence

Dubai’s decision to expand AI Campus reflects a broader economic strategy aimed at attracting high-value industries, encouraging technological innovation and strengthening the emirate’s competitiveness in the global digital economy. The government is increasingly positioning artificial intelligence as a tool for improving business productivity, developing new services and supporting economic diversification. By establishing dedicated infrastructure and encouraging collaboration between technology developers, investors and public-sector organisations, Dubai aims to create an environment where AI companies can move beyond experimentation and build commercially viable products. The 2030 targets also underline the importance of attracting skilled professionals and supporting businesses capable of developing technologies for regional and international markets.

Dubai AI Campus 2030 Expansion Signals Growing Demand for AI Investment

The new targets represent a significant commitment to expanding Dubai’s artificial intelligence ecosystem over the next several years. Increasing the number of companies operating within Dubai AI Campus to more than 1,000 and supporting over 5,000 specialised jobs will require continued investment, infrastructure development and cooperation between the public and private sectors. The proposed DIFC Zabeel District facility is expected to play an important role by providing dedicated space and technical resources for AI businesses at different stages of development. For international investors, technology entrepreneurs and companies exploring expansion into the UAE, the initiative highlights Dubai’s intention to remain competitive as demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure and services continues to grow.
