Ras Al Khaimah is drawing a larger share of American business interest as the emirate strengthens its position as an industrial, technology and investment hub in the UAE.
More than 700 U.S.-linked companies now operate within Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ), according to figures released by the Ras Al Khaimah Media Office. RAKEZ itself has grown to more than 50,000 companies across over 50 industries, while demand for business and industrial space remains strong.
The rise in American companies adds to a broader shift in Ras Al Khaimah. The emirate is expanding its traditional industrial base while also building new opportunities around artificial intelligence, digital assets, gaming and advanced technology.
More Than 700 US-Linked Companies Are Now in RAKEZ
American businesses have become an increasingly visible part of RAKEZ’s international company base. More than 700 U.S.-linked firms are now operating within the economic zone, while RAKEZ has recorded an average annual increase of 28% in client numbers since 2021. Occupancy across its business and industrial zones has also reached around 90%, showing strong demand from both local and international investors.
RAKEZ supports a wide range of business activities rather than focusing on one sector. Its ecosystem includes entrepreneurs, professional service firms, trading companies and large manufacturers. The economic zone operates dedicated business areas such as Al Nakheel and Al Hamra Business Zones, alongside industrial hubs including Al Ghail, Al Hamra and Al Hulaila Industrial Zones. It also has a dedicated Academic Zone for education-related businesses.
American Manufacturers Expand Their Ras Al Khaimah Operations
The American business presence in Ras Al Khaimah goes beyond licence registrations. Several U.S. companies have invested in physical operations, manufacturing facilities and logistics infrastructure in the emirate.
H.B. Fuller, for example, has established a 15,000-square-metre manufacturing hub that serves customers across the Middle East and North Africa. FedEx has introduced an in-house customs-clearance facility, while Flexitallic has invested in upgrading its gasket manufacturing operations. These developments show how Ras Al Khaimah is attracting companies that need more than office space, particularly firms in manufacturing, logistics and industrial services.
Access to Saqr Port and regional trade routes also strengthens the emirate’s position for export-oriented companies. For manufacturers looking at the UAE, Ras Al Khaimah offers industrial land, warehousing, customized facilities and access to regional markets within one business environment.
Innovation City Expands Ras Al Khaimah’s Technology Ambitions
Ras Al Khaimah is also developing a stronger technology-focused business ecosystem through Innovation City. The free zone is targeting companies working in artificial intelligence, Web3, digital assets, gaming, robotics and health technology.
Innovation City is positioning itself differently from traditional business zones by combining company licensing with digital infrastructure. Its model includes on-chain licensing capabilities, digital business identities, sovereign AI infrastructure and a dedicated AI data centre. The free zone describes itself as the UAE’s first AI-powered free zone, reflecting Ras Al Khaimah’s broader push into emerging technology industries.
This creates a more diversified investment environment within the emirate. RAKEZ continues to support manufacturing, trade and commercial activities, while Innovation City is designed around digital-first businesses and technology companies.
Ras Al Khaimah Takes Its Investment Campaign to the United States
Ras Al Khaimah is also actively promoting its business environment in the U.S. rather than relying solely on inbound investor interest. A delegation from the emirate is scheduled to visit Miami, Detroit, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City and New York City between September 20 and October 10, 2026.
The visit is expected to include meetings with U.S. organizations, institutions and state and local officials. Discussions will focus on investment opportunities, international expansion and potential partnerships. The campaign gives Ras Al Khaimah a direct opportunity to present its free zones, industrial infrastructure and technology ecosystem to American businesses considering expansion into the Middle East.
Dr. Carel Richter, Advisor for International Relations at the Office of the Ruler, said the existing number of American companies already shows growing interest in the emirate. He also pointed to investment activity across industrial, technology and hospitality sectors as Ras Al Khaimah enters another period of economic expansion.
Ras Al Khaimah Builds a More Diversified Business Economy
The growth in free zone companies is taking place alongside a broader expansion of Ras Al Khaimah’s economy. The emirate is now home to more than 73,000 companies, while no single sector accounts for more than 27% of GDP.
That diversification helps reduce dependence on one industry and gives international investors exposure to several areas of economic activity. Manufacturing, logistics, tourism, real estate and technology are all contributing to Ras Al Khaimah’s growth.
Major hospitality and property developments are also strengthening the emirate’s international profile. Global brands such as Wynn, Four Seasons, Nobu, Waldorf Astoria and Ritz-Carlton are connected with projects in Ras Al Khaimah. RAK Central is also being developed as another major commercial and residential destination.
For businesses evaluating the emirate, these developments matter because company formation is only one part of the investment decision. Infrastructure, transport, workforce availability, commercial activity and long-term market growth all play a role.
Why More US Companies Are Looking at Ras Al Khaimah
Ras Al Khaimah is increasingly competing for international businesses by combining lower operating costs, industrial infrastructure and flexible company formation options.
RAKEZ offers both free zone and non-free zone licences, customizable facilities and business support through a one-stop-shop model. Companies can begin with smaller offices or warehouses and later expand into larger industrial facilities as their operations grow.
For technology companies, Innovation City adds another option focused on digital infrastructure and emerging industries. This gives Ras Al Khaimah a broader investment proposition that can appeal to manufacturers, logistics companies, startups, AI firms and digital businesses.
The emirate’s location within the UAE also gives companies access to regional trade routes while offering an alternative to more expensive commercial centres.
What the Growth Means for Ras Al Khaimah’s Free Zone Sector
The rise to more than 700 U.S.-linked companies gives Ras Al Khaimah another sign that its international business strategy is gaining traction.
The larger story is the way the emirate is expanding across several fronts at once. RAKEZ continues to grow its established manufacturing and commercial ecosystem, while Innovation City is building a technology-focused platform around AI and digital industries.
At the same time, Ras Al Khaimah is taking a more active approach to international investment promotion, including direct engagement with U.S. companies and institutions.
For businesses considering the UAE, Ras Al Khaimah is developing into a more varied option with room for both traditional industries and emerging technology companies.
