Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), in partnership with the Executive Office of the Emirates Bullion Committee, has announced the launch of the 7th Edition of the Responsible Sourcing Guidance on Gold training programme. The virtual event will take place on 13–14 May 2026. It aims to strengthen compliance, transparency, and responsible sourcing practices across the UAE’s precious metals sector.
The specialised training programme is designed for compliance officers, gold refiners, precious metals dealers, auditors, and companies involved in the recycling and trading of gold. Additionally, participants will gain practical insights into the UAE’s evolving regulatory framework. This framework governs responsible gold sourcing and anti-money laundering (AML) obligations.
Strengthening Responsible Gold Sourcing in the UAE
The initiative reflects the UAE’s continued commitment to enhancing transparency and integrity within the gold supply chain. Furthermore, the programme aligns with international standards including the OECD Due Diligence Guidance. It also follows the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) Responsible Gold Guidance.
DMCC’s responsible sourcing framework is based on its Rules for Risk-Based Due Diligence in the Gold and Precious Metals Supply Chain. These rules were introduced to ensure ethical sourcing, reduce financial crime risks, and improve governance in the precious metals industry.
The two-day webinar will cover key areas including:
- UAE Due Diligence Regulations for Responsible Sourcing of Gold
- Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing (AML/CFT) requirements
- UAE Good Delivery standards
- Supply chain risk assessment and mitigation
- Practical mine-site due diligence and audit expectations
- Identification of red flags in gold transactions
- Financial crime typologies within the precious metals sector
Industry Experts to Lead Training Sessions
The programme features presentations and workshops delivered by leading AML specialists, government representatives, and industry consultants. Sessions will include practical case studies, mock interviews, and interactive exercises to help participants strengthen their compliance capabilities.
Experts from the UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism will provide guidance on the implementation of Ministerial Decree No. 68 of 2024 and the country’s responsible sourcing regulations. In addition, additional sessions will focus on the relationship between UAE Good Delivery standards and international due diligence frameworks.
Growing Importance of Responsible Sourcing
Responsible sourcing has become increasingly important in global gold markets as regulators, investors, and consumers demand greater transparency across supply chains. Meanwhile, international organisations such as the LBMA and World Gold Council continue to strengthen due diligence standards. These efforts help prevent conflict financing, money laundering, and human rights abuses linked to mineral sourcing.
The UAE has introduced several regulatory reforms in recent years to reinforce compliance standards within the gold and precious metals industry. Also, the Ministry of Economy’s responsible sourcing policy requires gold refiners and traders to implement robust governance systems, independent audits, and annual reporting obligations.
Supporting Dubai’s Position as a Global Gold Hub
The Responsible Sourcing Guidance on Gold programme supports Dubai’s broader strategy to strengthen its reputation as a trusted global hub for gold trading and precious metals. Through initiatives led by DMCC and UAE regulators, the country continues to enhance industry standards. It also supports sustainable growth and international best practices.
The virtual training session is open to industry professionals worldwide. This enables participants to engage with experts and gain certification in responsible sourcing compliance.
