Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and Dubai Taxi Company have inaugurated Dubai’s first ultra-fast EV charging hub dedicated to DTC’s electric taxi fleet. The new hub is located at Dubai Taxi Company’s headquarters in Muhaisnah 4 and marks the first phase of a wider partnership between the two entities.
Dubai Ultra-Fast EV Charging Hub Begins Operations
The newly opened facility includes 24 next-generation ultra-fast charge points, each with a capacity of 360 kilowatts. That is the part that matters for taxi operations. Charging speed is not just a convenience here. It affects how quickly vehicles can return to the road.
The hub can charge 24 electric taxis at the same time in around 35 minutes, helping reduce downtime for Dubai Taxi Company’s fleet. For a commercial transport operator, that difference is practical. Less waiting. More availability. A cleaner fleet that can still work at city speed.
Part of a Bigger DEWA and Dubai Taxi EV Plan
This is not a standalone project. The charging hub comes under a long-term strategic agreement signed between DEWA and DTC at WETEX 2025. Under that plan, the two sides aim to deploy more than 200 ultra-fast EV charge points for Dubai Taxi Company’s fleet.
The first hub gives the project a visible starting point. It also shows how Dubai is trying to connect energy infrastructure with public transport electrification, instead of treating them as two separate plans.
For Dubai Taxi Company, the charging network is central to expanding electric vehicle use across its fleet. For DEWA, it supports wider clean mobility infrastructure under the EV Green Charger initiative and Dubai’s broader sustainability goals.
Why This Matters for Dubai’s Green Mobility Push
Electric taxis sound simple from the passenger side. You book a ride, get in, and move. Behind that, though, the system needs serious charging capacity. A taxi fleet cannot depend on slow or limited charging points if it is expected to operate throughout the day.
That is why a dedicated ultra-fast charging hub matters. It gives DTC more control over charging access, fleet scheduling, and vehicle availability. It also helps Dubai reduce emissions from one of the most visible parts of urban transport.
DEWA said the project supports the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, both of which aim to accelerate cleaner transport and reduce the carbon footprint of mobility across the emirate.
DTC Pushes Further Into Electric Transport
Dubai Taxi Company has been positioning electrification as part of its long-term growth story. The company’s leadership said the new hub is the first phase of a larger network dedicated entirely to DTC’s fleet, with more than 200 charging stations planned.
That expansion could help DTC improve fleet efficiency, keep more vehicles available, and meet growing demand for cleaner transport services. It is not only about sustainability branding. For taxi operators, electric fleets need charging infrastructure that works at scale.
And Dubai is clearly trying to build that scale early.
